The Lakes and Marshes Rail Trail is a 4.5 mile loop between Snodland and New Hythe stations, taking in the fantastic scenery and wildlife of Holborough Marshes, Leybourne Lakes and the River Medway.

 

Trains arrive at Snodland station from both ends of the Medway Valley Line at around 10:15am, ready for a 10:30am start. Our walk that will explore the industrial past of this area of the Medway Valley. We will take a stop for refreshments at the lakeside cafe in Leybourne Lakes Country Park and aim to reach New Hythe station by 1:30pm.

 

The route is not considered to be accessible as it features narrow kissing gates. It is largely level although there are two short steep gradients at the embankment of the River Medway. Please ensure your footwear is suitable for uneven trail surfaces and muddy stretches of path. Some paths are close to deep open water.

 

The walk is considered suitable for children over 12 years old, all under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs on leads are welcome.
