Aylesford Goods Shed receives Grade II listed status

In November 2021 the Station Adoption Group at Aylesford approached Historic England to see whether they would grant listed building status to the Aylesford Goods Shed.

Listed status is not simply granted because a building is old, it has be considered to have special architectural or historic interest.

The Station Adopters have had their application accepted and this important piece of railway heritage can be preserved for future generations.

Dr Tom Shelley said:

“We already had a listed station at Aylesford but we now additionally have a listed good shed which was originally part of the station. It could perhaps one day be a grand place to have council meetings.

It also shows what can be done by listing buildings in danger of demolition, especially those in the way of developers”

Our congratulations go to Tom and the Aylesford Station Adopters.

Details of the listing can be viewed on the Historic England website.
