Valley Park School Choir, Music and Mince Pies, Maidstone East Station, Monday 8th December

On the evening of Monday 8th December Maidstone East station adopters, Valley Park School students entertained passengers with Christmas songs and mince pies at Maidstone East station.

The station has a large bright white foyer however the 22 students with their enthusiastic music tutor soon warmed the atmosphere with the magical sounds of Christmas songs. Parents and teachers gathered to watch and listen to the students as some bravely sang solos. Passengers lingered to hear the lyrical sounds allowing for valuable engagement to share the messages of community rail and impart information of the other Maidstone East projects and the other ten station adoption groups along the Kent Downs Line.

Jess, Valley Park School Lead Tutor for the station adoption recorded the students and it hoped that this will be shared on social media. These events offer students opportunities to perform in public which tutors have informed us build their confidence.

This was a great opportunity to promote community rail and on hearing of the recently installed Valley Park School station adoption art boards and those in the pipeline some passengers said they would look out for them, especially the new remembrance poppy artwork along the wall on platform 1.

A huge thank you to Jessica Abott Valley Park School Tutor and Caroline Wallis Southeastern Station Manger for their permission and facilitation of the event.
