Queenborough Station & Castle Connections
We look forward to celebrating Queenborough Station’s 165th Birthday, and the 200th Anniversary of passenger rail travel, on the 19th July 2025, at Queenborough. We are excited to announce the activities planned for the day (either based at Queenborough Station or the Ground Floor Hall in Castle Connections, a 2 minutes walk away).

12.00 noon – Community Procession from Queenborough Station – ALL WELCOME. If raining, we will adapt the event indoors to the Station Booking Hall!

Activity Information
Cycle ReCycle Bike Sale – 10am

Organised by Swale Borough Council, the Cycle Recycle Bike Sale will start at 10am.
You can buy a newly refurbished bike for £10. Please bring cash.
There will be 30 bikes available on the day, and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis, starting from 10am.
There will also be the opportunity to get the bike security tagged, with local police offering this as a free service.
Art Workshops
30 minute workshops will be run at 10.30am, 11.00am, 1.30pm, 2.00pm. Come along and make some crafts. Each workshop has a 10 participant capacity. First come first serve. Under 18’s need to be accompanied by an adult.
Morning Workshops
You will be guided through creating your own train carriage and/or some hand held streamers, so you can join the procession at 12noon with some beautiful freshly made artwork.
Afternoon Workshops
You will get the chance to fully celebrate Rail 200, making some special Rail 200 Crowns and creating a very special GIANT birthday card for the Station!

For all children and young rail enthusiasts:
Get the chance to enter the FREE raffle to win a £50 Hornby Train Set. Free Raffle tickets will be given out from 11.30 (before the procession) and after, with the raffle drawn at 1.15pm after the Birthday cake!
African Drumming Workshops with Lucky Moyo
African Drumming expert Lucky Moyo will be teaching us some magical beats, how to play the African Drum and guiding us into some collective group drumming.
This will take place in the Ground Floor Hall at Castle Connections. Each session will last 60 mins.
Under 18’s need to be accompanied by an adult

Storytelling Walking Tour of Queenborough – with Big Fish Theatre Arts

Come on a fascinating journey around Queenborough with The Big Fish Arts bringing to life ancient legends and stories across the centuries, hidden in some unexpected places.
Queenborough has a rich history and the Big Fish interweave their knowledge on local history, storytelling and musicality to make this an unforgettable experience.
The tour is 90 minutes in length and will start from the entrance of Castle Connections.
DR BIKE & The Sheppey Cycle Club (1.30 – 4.00pm)
The Sheppey Cycle Club will have a gazebo at the front of Castle Connections, and a special bike engineer on hand for DR. BIKE!
DR BIKE can help with gear and brake adjustments, fixing punctures and changing seat height – all for FREE!
Bring along your bike if you would like it checked and minor repairs fixed. No booking required.
