Thanks to Kent Community Rail Partenrship and Southeastern, Ashford International Station has become a hub of activity for students of Ashford College. Activities are driven by the students, linked to the curriculum and help the college to connect with local communities.

The latest project has seen students reimagine tired planters outside the station as a statement artwork, wrapping them in colourful vinyls and erecting a simple “Welcome” message of weaved willow letters to replace dead trees.

A night time scene. Colourful planters featuring flowing shapes and fish spell out "Ashford". Mounted in the planters are willow sculptures that spell "Welcome"

The students have created a vibrant welcome to Ashford, transforming the first impression of the town for everyone who arrives by rail.

The artwork is part of the Ashford Art Trail, an exhibition of public murals throughout the town.

Ashford College and Kent CRP would like to thank Southeastern for their support in allowing the students to express their creativity at the station.
