New Station Adopters For Maidstone West

We are delighted to announce that Maidstone CAN (Climate Action Network) have signed up to adopt Maidstone West station under Southeastern’s station adoption scheme and will be joining Community Rail Network as a station adoption group.

This will build upon the legacy of Ian Paterson and his family, who were the station adopters from 2016 until 2024, when they decided to step down and take a well earned rest.

Maidstone CAN is a community association set up to coordinate and manage events and activities in Maidstone that can help address climate and environment issues.

They will begin by conducting an inventory of the existing garden area, with a view to introducing companion planting for
pollinators.

Maidstone CAN are keen to see how additional planters could be introduced to the platforms and existing wild areas enhanced. They will also involve other community groups in gardening and art projects at the station, raising awareness of the need to address climate and environment issues across Maidstone.

We’re looking forward to working with Maidstone CAN to build upon Ian’s legacy and increase the local community’s connections with their station.
