It is with pleasure that we can announce that cycle rails (aka wheeling ramps) have been installed at 6 stations along the Medway Valley Line. This will assist cyclists who would otherwise need to carry their cycles up the steps and over the bridge to access other platforms. It is hoped that cycle rails will be installed on the Kent Downs Line next year, they are not needed on the Swale Rail Line as all platforms are accessible.
We would like to thank Southeastern who supported and funded this valuable project which will allow us to more easily promote end to end journeys by train.
We will be celebrating the installation of the cycle rails with a launch event at Yalding station on Wed 21 Sept beginning at 9.45am. We will be cutting a ribbon to open the cycle rails with members of San Fairy Ann cycling club, Tonbridge Bike User Group (TBUG) and members of the local community. It is hoped that the Kent Messenger may also attend.
Please let Therese know if you would like to join us: therese.hammond@sustrans.org.uk
All pre-booked participants are welcome to join us afterwards at Teapot Island café to celebrate the cycle rails and to network. Teapot Island café is a 0.5 mile cycle/walk from Yalding station.
We look forward to you joining us.
