Neil Baker, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Kent County Council, hosted the 2024 Kent Rail Summit.

 

This was the 16th Kent County Council Rail Summit since they began in 2010, providing stakeholders an opportunity to understand what improvements are being worked on to help make rail journeys better. The summit was also an opportunity to hear from the county’s main rail operator Southeastern and to ask questions of all the presenters.

 

 

The programme for this year’s Summit was on the theme of Partnerships and covered the topics below.

 

Programme:

  • Host’s Welcome and Opening Remarks – Neil Baker, Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport
  • Update from Southeastern Trains, including the Community and Customer Investment Fund community groups and organisations can make bids to now and in 2025.
  • The Bring Back International Rail Partnership Campaign.
  • Transport for the South East (TfSE) on improving rail across the region
  • Question Time
  • Chair’s closing remarks and close of summit est. 7 pm
