School and Community Engagement Work

The Kent Community Rail Partnership works with local schools and collages near our railway stations. We run projects to enable students to take part in community activities to improve our stations. We also support groups of students to develop their confidence in travelling by train.

As well as working with schools and colleges, we also work with local community groups and volunteers to run events, as well as carrying out station improvements with our Station Adopters. You will see below some of the projects we have been involved in and also the support we can offer.

What We Can Offer

Schools and Colleges

Our activities are wide ranging from rail safety talks, to school travel planning to looking after your local station. If you have an idea for a project or activity and its not here, please do let us know.

Smarter Journeys
This programme supports Year 5/6 pupils who are preparing for the transition to secondary school. It will provide them with skills so that they can continue to make active and sustainable travel journeys to secondary school. There is also the opportunity to visit a station by train to see how the station operates and highlight the key safety considerations when travelling by train.

Transition To College
The Transition to College programme is a group train travel training programme for students who experience learning disabilities in their final years of school to prepare them for train travel to college.
