The Kent Community Rail Partnership hosted an Electric Bike ride along the beautiful River Medway tow path last Fri 20 April.
10 intrepid riders took to electric bikes, courtesy of Electric Bikes Kent Ltd and rode from the shop to Maidstone West Station where they boarded trains to Aylesford and then rode back to the shop.
The ride organised by Kent Community Rail Partnership was set up to encourage riders of all ages to keep cycling and show how easy it was to take electric bikes (off –peak) on trains. Half the participants had never been on an electric bike before and for many it was only their second time.
Chris Fribbins, Vice Chair Kent Community Rail Partnership said
”We want to encourage riders of all ages to continue riding for as long as possible and electric bikes is one way to help with this. We have enormous congestion problems with cars at Maidstone West Station and anything we can do to encourage people to use bikes to get to the station, the better.”
“I really enjoyed the ride, it showed me how easy it is to use an electric bike on trains and to the station.”
